Cedrus atlantica  

Cedrus atlantica forms vast forests of silver-grey leaved trees in the humid zones of the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. A soft, woody, balsamic, earthy essential oil is steam distilled from the aromatic wood. Cedarwood Atlas is a grounding oil that clears the mind and calms emotional equilibrium. It is excellent for stress, and nerves. The soft, woody, clean aroma makes it a natural fixative in perfume blends, masculine colognes, and soaps.

Some essential oils increase oxygen in the brain

The sesquiterpene molecules in Cedarwood Atlas essential oil increase oxygen molecules to the protoplasm in the body, just as haemoglobin does in blood. With increased oxygen, the hypothalamus and limbic areas of the brain energise emotional attitude, learning ability and physical functions such as immunity, hormone balance and energy levels. Sesquiterpene is the main chemical substance in Ginger, Vetiver, Spikenard, Patchouli, Myrrh and Sandalwood with milder levels in Onycha, Frankincense, and Galbanum.

The merits of this oil

Cedarwood atlas has an uplifting action on emotional equilibrium that calms the body when diffused into the air. 

A couple of drops should be diffused into the air to unclog the respiratory tract and calm symptoms of hay fever.

Excellent for bronchitis, respiratory tightness, coughs, and for steam inhalation to unclog phlegm and improve your breathing. A couple of drops in a bowl of steaming water fills the air with soothing vapours to sanitise and calm.

The anti-inflammatory actions are a balm for acne, eczema, and dermatitis. Cedarwood Atlas is excellent for oily skin and calms acne skin eruptions with strong anti-bacterial actions.
