Lippia javanica

Lippia javanica or Cape Verbena, is a woody shrub with dense clusters of white flowers and one of South Africa’s most aromatic therapeutic plants. The stems and leaves are steam distilled for an essential oil that’s pleasant, fruity and sweet. Lippia essential oil is an excellent chest calmer and unclogs chronic coughing, including bronchitis, pleurisy and asthma. It also prevents nosebleeds and soothes children’s scrapes.

The merits of this oil

Skin soother:  A healing oil for skin with excellent antiseptic actions to soothe sores. Lippia takes the burning sensation out of scratches and grazes.  

Respiratory unclogger:  Clears the bronchial tubes and unclogs mucus. 

Gargle for sore throats:  A strong anti-septic for use as a gargle for sore throats.   

Dry skin moisturiser:  Blend Lippia essential oil with Sweet Almond oil to moisturise and nourish dry skin.

Nosebleeds:  Prevents nosebleeds and helps to soothe children’s scrapes.
