Muhuhu or the African Sandalwood is a tall slender tree with light grey bark, green elliptical leaves and white flowers.  Muhuhu essential oil is steam distilled from the heartwood and is similar in aroma to Sandalwood with a smooth, woody and slight floral base note. It is used in natural perfumes as a fixative, where its gentle, delicate presence imparts a subtle aroma to blends that does not overwhelm.  Although it has heavy base notes, it has a refinement and fixative quality that enhances perfume blends.  Muhuhu is calming to the mind.

The merits of this oil

Respiratory ailments:  It is saturated with anti-septic, anti-spasmodic actions to calm asthma, bronchitis, clogged chests, coughs and respiratory infections.

Expectorant chest rub:  Muhuhu essential oil makes an effective chest rub for soothing coughs. A couple of drops in a base oil such as Sweet Almond makes a soothing chest rub.

Excellent anti-inflammatory for itchy skin:  A strong anti-inflammatory, Muhuhu soothes rashes, itchy skin and skin inflammations such as eczema.

Skin therapeutic:  An excellent anti-bacterial and anti-septic skin therapeutic for sores.

Oily skin:  Muhuhu essential oil is mildly astringent for oily skin and wrinkled skin.

Moisturising emollient:  Muhuhu is excellent for dry skin. 

Anti-fungal, analgesic, anti-septic, anti-spasmodic and anti-bacterial.
