Commiphora erythrea

Opoponax essential oil is steam distilled from resin harvested from the Commiphora erythrea tree.  The resin is derived from the same species of trees as Frankincense and Myrrh, and has therapeutic actions similar to those oils.  It is imbued with an earthy richness that energises and uplifts in blends that resonate with wood, resin, spice, floral, herbaceous or citrus aromas. A natural fixative, Opoponax prolongs the aroma in a blend or perfume. Opoponax is similar to Myrrh essential oil and has calming effects that help to calm the mind, resulting in uplifted emotional equilibrium. Besides this, it is an effective anti-parasitic, relieves pain and has emmenagogue substances to help regulate menstruation and calm the symptoms of the menopause.
